Qdrant Developer Relations Strategy Draft
A comprehensive roadmap for building a world-class developer community around Qdrant's vector database platform, written from an outsider's perspective
Disclaimer: This strategy draft was created in a short timeframe using only publicly available information. It is intended to demonstrate my approach to DevRel planning and strategic thinking for the Qdrant platform. With access to internal data, team input, and more time, a full plan would be significantly more comprehensive and tailored to Qdrant’s unique needs.
Understanding Qdrant's Opportunity
Qdrant stands out for its high performance, open-source foundation, and growing reputation in the AI and vector database space. Developers love its speed, reliability, and ease of use. However, there are opportunities to further improve the developer experience, especially around UI, visualization, and onboarding. The competitive landscape is evolving quickly, so our strategy must be both bold and responsive.

How We Prioritize
Every DevRel initiative is evaluated by its impact on the developer journey, alignment with business goals, and data-driven evidence. If a request does not move the needle for our community or product, we say no so we can say yes to what matters most.
- Set and communicate clear DevRel priorities that align with business objectives. Be willing to say no to requests that do not support strategic goals.
- Work closely with Engineering, Product, and Marketing to share feedback and align priorities, acting as a bridge between technical and business teams.
- Regularly sync with internal teams to ensure developer needs are addressed and that DevRel efforts are coordinated and impactful.
- Collaborate on content marketing, SEO, and outreach strategies to maximize the reach and effectiveness of DevRel initiatives.
Why I am Ready to Lead This
At Microsoft, I grew the TypeSpec open-source community to over 5,000 stars and drove 30+ percent Azure service adoption (with a plan in place for 100% adoption by end of year) by focusing on developer experience, content, and advocacy. I prototyped RAG-based Copilot extensions using Qdrant, and I know what it takes to build, scale, and inspire technical communities. I am excited to bring this playbook and my passion for AI developer tools to Qdrant.
